About Us

James and Luis have been close friends since preschool. Despite attending different schools over the years, they’ve remained connected by a shared passion for learning and helping others. Their friendship gave birth to STEMtastic, an initiative conceived in 10th grade with the idea of “kids teaching kids” about STEM topics in a fun, easy-to-digest way. STEMtastic was designed to help alleviate patient stress and combat isolation during hospitalization. James and Luis pitched their show to KidZoneTV at Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital, where episodes began airing. This marked the start of their mission to bring engaging STEM content to Child Life departments in hospitals across the country.

Meet Luis

Luis is a high school senior with a passion for science and math. As a mechanical engineer on his school’s robotics team, he even made it to the NYC First League finals. Recently, Luis has discovered a passion for creative writing, film, and TV. This unique combination of interests was a catalyst for the creation of STEMtastic. Now, as a volunteer at Mount Sinai, Luis gains valuable insights into what kids are excited to learn about by talking to them and playing games together. This has helped him to identify show topics kids want to watch during hospitalization.

Meet James

James is a high school senior who loves flying planes, building things, and generating creative solutions for everyday problems. James loves working with kids, whether mentoring, tutoring, or helping to teach them about favorite STEM-centric topics including robotics and engineering. Somehow James finds a way to relate everything back to aviation! He is the “fix-it” guy at home and loves to take things apart to see how and why they work. Along with Luis, James has written, produced, and hosted every episode of STEMtastic.
